Philosophy is ones perception of a given text or experience, he can merely share it with others, expect nothing else from it.
The sun doesn’t rise or set; I simply automatically picture that scenario whilst I’m physically observing this great big orange ball rise in the east and set in the west every day. Also, through years of using the words ‘rise’ and ‘fall’, it becomes embedded in my brain and almost overrides what we now know about our spiralling galaxy. Isn’t it interesting how sometimes we take things as set in stone. Reading, watching and listening to other people is obviously a good thing, as long as you don’t take everything for granted. Ok, if I want to build a small bridge over a stream, I would refer to previous bridge makers and take the information I needed to ensure I could make a safe bridge. Much of this is down to physics and laws. But what about emotions and feelings. What would happen if we didn’t absorb so much; if we didn’t take any notice of opinions, advice, warnings, history, etc. Do we need to listen to ourselves…our brain…a little more carefully? Isn’t it the brain that makes us move, tells us we are hungry, blinks our eyes to keep them refreshed? (Does the heart vie for an equal say with the brain?) Does all the information you retain drown out the right thing to do? The brain is an organism that has survived tens of thousands of years by relying on its own instinct and senses. Are we now feeding it a load of dribble, just because a particular notion is believed by the masses? I always think of that video of the man dancing on his own at a music festival. At first, as he is the only one, people are filming him and you can see the embarrassment of onlookers. But then, he gets a follower. Somebody else joins him and dances in the same fashion. Over the course of the video, you see more and more people joining in with the dance; it appears they are fearful not to be associated with the new craze once the majority of people become ‘followers’.
Be yourself, follow your mind and heart, ignore the disbelieving, smile and grow each day, choose freedom,
